Rowen Amadeus Camor (Alice Voena) is a queer cult leader spiraling through their subconscious the day before a prophesied religious doomsday event is set to occur. Fueled by prophecies from “Promise” (voiced by John Cameron Mitchell), Rowen faces a slow mental breakdown as they desperately search for identity and meaning during their last day on earth.

The upcoming film adaptation of “Heaven Above Rowen” (premiering 2026) brings together Broadway and New Queer Cinema icons John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask (whose "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" has become canonical for generations of queer youth, cinephiles, and theatre lovers alike) in support of newcomer Alice Voena’s first feature. Heaven Above Rowen is Stephen Trask and John Cameron Mitchell's first film collaboration since "Hedwig."
